I made this blog series to be a collection of my thoughts and findings, that I have gathered throughout a period of 10 years working as a visual artist. My intention is not to fool anyone in saying that all will be well, it could not be further from the truth.
I say this to all, who are struggling, to everyone who is interested in the field or wishes to become an artist one day: It is hard to be an artist. Period. But it is also, for me, the most rewarding decision I have ever made in my life and have never ever regretted not becoming a doctor, lawyer or other esteemed profession, that our society currently deems valuable.
For me it means the freedom to play, to create something out of nothing with just my hands and some tools. It means being able to look at the world and see a better one and, what is most important of all; it means being able to show what I see to everyone else, who maybe does not.
It means I can sculpt my being into the person I wish to become, rather than stay the same old me, contempt with the same old problems without any end or resolution in sight. It means to be the best I can be, for me, for those around me, and for those still about to come, so that they may find the world at least a little better than it was before.
