Imagine the last time you had a conversation with someone about a topic you understood better than him or her. It may have been in the form of advice or as a casual interesting conversation about a topic they were interested in. After the conversation, they surely left with much more information than they has before, but the interesting thing is, so did you.
Itβs an interesting phenomenon that every time we put our thoughts into a physical form, be it writing, speaking or painting β the medium doesnβt really matter βΒ the thoughts become more clear, more concise every time.
This is embodied in the idea of keeping a diary, a blog like me, or a daily painting ritual; as long as we are regular with our habit of giving our thoughts a physical medium to reside in, the benefits are there.
But while the idea of keeping a diary or writing everyday might seem stupid or even useless β thatβs what our memory is for, right β memories fade, ideas vanish into thin air as fast as they came into our mind and the habit of paying attention to our thoughts when they materialise is one of the most important habits we can nurture over the span of our lives.
At worst, to not forget, at best to polarise our beliefs into two piles; the ones we really do understand, not only as facts but also as emotions connected with these facts, and those we do not, in order that someday we will and grow as a consequence of doing so.
