Posting a lot on your media platform of choice and doing so on a regular basis is a must if you wish to propagate your message and your art into the world and donβt have cash to burn for Facebook or Instagram ads, but it takes a lot of time and becomes incredibly tedious to do after a while!Β
Luckily, the wonderful inter web has us creators covered with two amazing applications that are pretty much free to use (one of them offers paid options, but you might not need to invest in them if you use both in conjunction).
First, I present to you your new digital assistant called If This Then That (IFTTT) β horrible name but a beautiful web platform if there ever was one! So, what does it do and how can you benefit from it?!
IFTTT lets you automate numerous processes: For example you can set it up so that every time you post a new YouTube video it makes a Tweet with whatever message you wish and a link to the new video.
It can also make Facebook, Tumblr, Blogger β¦ posts of your blog or podcast, so you spend exactly 0 seconds on marketing something you created and can just focus on creating more!Β
And as more content on more platforms can only help people find your art and your business organically, you can set up a whole web of automations so that even though you might not be using Tumblr or Pinterest to post your work, you can just automate all of your Instagram pictures and videos to be posted to both platforms.
Another fine tool is Zapier, but this one only comes as a free option when you make 5 or less automations and it will only work 100 times per month, so this one is more of an add-on to use in connection with IFTTT.
But I use it regardless, because I myself love the fact that Zapier can post to different Facebook Pages you manage, whereas IFTTT only allows connecting one page and only one such connection per Facebook user, so you canβt post different content to different pages you are managing.
Both though work amazingly well and I have been using them for more than half a year now with only wonderful things to say about both. For me, they do take at least 1 if not 2 hours a day off my posting time, as I manage this blog and the podcast that I produce everyday and 2 YouTube channels; all of them in both English and Slovene, so reposting all of the content to all of the various profiles would be a nightmare.
After a few hours of tweaking in both automation programs, now I only have to post my blog and podcast, and both get spread to my mailing list, blog page, Facebook page, Tumblr blog, Blogger profile, Pinterest and all of the podcast apps like Apple Podcasts, Spotify and so on. And the same goes for my YouTube videos!
If youβre spending a lot of time reposting your messages and images and are overwhelmed by social media, these are the tools for you. And all it takes for you to cut down on the hours you spend on PR work every week is just a few clicks away and absolutely free!
